I don’t mean to be rude by putting the 2022 runners-up outside of the top 25, but here we are. By no means was last year a fluke, Sonny Dykes' team is just losing a ton of key pieces and are hoping for a quick reboot this season. I don’t think they will fall off the map by any means, heck they might even compete for a Big 12 championship, but I don’t think national championship hopes are in the question here. Although, they weren’t supposed to be there last year either.

The Horned Frogs only return half of their team and will lose their star from last year, Max Duggan. Dykes does have a handful of transfers and most of the players that are coming back are featured on the offensive end, but they will heavily rely on Chandler Morris to lead this offense and replace Duggan. I see a lot of the help coming from Alabama transfer Trey Sanders, a former five-star recruit. If Sanders can get going and take a little bit of the pressure off of Morris, we could see similar numbers from last year from this squad.

Defensively they are going to have to say a prayer. They weren’t good last year and will rely on a group of youngsters to make them better. Although youth will dominate this end of the ball, TCU’s defense will be led by star saftey, Mark Perry, which can be considered comforting to fans and coaches, but don't get too comfortable. They lost too much from a mediocre team last year to be relevant this year.

How Many Games Will TCU Win IN 2023?

  • 8 or more

  • 7 or less

Like I said, Dykes’ will still have this team competing for a Big 12 championship in the later part of the season, but I don’t think they can get there this year. 8-4 season coming up for the Frogs.
